What it is

A manufactured surface, not a quarried one.Quartz is a manufactured surface, ground natural quartz bound with resin and pigment. Unlike natural stone it is nonporous and completely consistent slab to slab, so what you see in the sample is what you get.

Quartz vs granite

Uniform and carefree, or natural and heat-proof.Granite is natural, takes direct heat, and no two slabs match. Quartz is uniform, nonporous, and never needs sealing, but it will not take a hot pan and it can fade in direct sun. For a low-maintenance indoor kitchen, quartz is hard to beat.

No sealing, ever.Quartz needs no sealing, ever. It wipes clean with soap and water and resists stains and scratches. The one rule: use a trivet, since direct heat can damage the resin.
